Austria Golden Visa Requirements

There is a strict annual limit of 300 applicants, and therefore only a limited number will be chosen. All applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria, which includes:

  • Minimum of €40,000, however the amount of liquid funds varies based on family size
  • Provide documented proof of owning or leasing a permanent residential property where the applicant and their dependents will reside
  • Private healthcare insurance
  • Documented German language skills (at A1 level)
  • Personally send the required documentation to the Austrian consular/diplomatic representation in the country of residence
  • After their residence application receives approval, applicants can request a special visa from Austria’s embassy, enabling them to travel to Austria and obtain their residence permit from the relevant authority
The Austrian Golden Visa Procedure and Time Frame

Applicants must personally submit all required documentation to the Austrian consular/diplomatic representation in their country of residence during the application process. Timely submission is crucial due to strict quota restrictions for certain residence permits. Upon permit approval, applicants must retrieve a special visa from the Austrian Embassy to travel to Austria and obtain the residence permit. While applications have a minimum Time Frame of one month, approvals may extend up to three months. The issued residence permit must be collected from the Austrian issuing authority. Non-EU or non-EFTA citizens intending to stay in Austria for over 24 months must sign an integration agreement. Residence and settlement permits are renewable annually.
