The Latvia Residency by Investment Schemes stands as one of Europe’s fastest and most competitive programs. The Latvian administration initiated the plan on 1 July 2010 to overcome the economic crisis of 2007–2009. Five years into the project, Latvia’s financial system received over EUR 1.3 billion, with more than EUR 1 billion generated from real estate acquisitions by non-native investors (The real estate option has been suspended since January 2022).

According to the eligibility criteria, non-citizens can apply for a residency visa in Latvia by investing in the share capital of a Latvian enterprise, providing a subordinate loan (deposit) in a Latvian financial institution, or purchasing government bonds with no interest designated for a specific purpose.
